Fall2014 DSHS Jeff BixbyThe 2nd DSEF / Lone Star Bank Teacher of the Term award was presented this morning at DSHS to Jeff Bixby.  In the attached photo, Jeff is shown with DSEF Board Members Michael Brack and Caroline Pekarek.  He was selected by Joe Burns and this is what Mr. Burns had to say about Jeff:

“Over the years Jeff has become an exceptional teacher and campus leader at DSHS.  Jeff is always willing to teach multiple preps and this year is not any different.  He is currently teaching three courses in our AP program; AP World History, AP Psychology, and AP Government.  Along with his teaching load, for the 2014/15 school year Jeff has taken on several new roles including a department chair role for social studies and working as the  asst. debate coach.  For the second year, Jeff is also leading the DSHS Academic UIL Team.  Jeff’s team of coaches will be working hard to win the UIL district title for the 3rd consecutive year.”

Most importantly Jeff is a master teacher that leads his students to a deeper understanding of the world around them on a daily basis.  DSHS would not be the same without him and we would like to take this time to thank him for all the many things he does for our students.”

April 2014 Teacher of the Month is Chandler Klein of DSES

First grade teacher, Chandler Klein works very hard to make sure that all of her students feel safe at school, and creates a nurturing learning environment. She truly cares for each child as if they were their own. She has gone above and beyond to help a student in her classroom who was struggling with making good choices. She set him up on a positive behavior plan, followed through on constant communication with the family, and made sure to recognize the positive! She has also volunteered to implement blended learning in her classroom, and has done a lot of research on best practices in blended learning and how to reach all students. Chandler is a real life changer and we feel blessed to have her on our team at Dripping Springs Elementary!
